How Local Marketers Are Dealing with the Business Impact of a World Health Crisis

by | May 7, 2020 | Blog

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought changes in every aspect of our lives including how we do business. With several parts of the world in lockdown and many people working from home, both local businesses and marketers have had to come up with new ways of doing business.

Digital marketing consultants may have found themselves losing some clients while others opt to scale back on their marketing plans and efforts.  However, I have reached out to several of my clients and we’ve brainstormed on ways to ensure that their businesses come out of this as strong as possible. I believe that other local marketers out there can do the same and re-strategize to keep their clients’ businesses going.

Here are some ways local marketers are dealing with this health crisis:

  • Focusing on the customer.

While most businesses have closed shop, others haven’t. If yours is still open, this isn’t the time to remain quiet. Find new ways of staying in touch with your customers e.g. by providing online and phone customer service and paying more attention to your social media pages.

  • Changing priorities.

You now have more time on your hands, thanks to being stuck indoors. This means you have more time to spend on all those tasks you’ve been putting off like working on your social media reach, improving your SEO, or tweaking your website.

  • Preparing for the future

While the immediate future remains uncertain, you can still prepare for business after the pandemic. Find out what you can do to get yourself ready e.g. cutting unnecessary costs, coming up with new marketing strategies for clients, etc. This is also a great time to learn new marketing skills or polishing up your existing ones.

  • Keeping business information accurate.

Don’t forget to update your clients’ Google My Business profiles, websites or social media pages to reflect changes (if any) they’ve initiated during this time. For instance, many businesses have changed their working hours or how they communicate with customers.

  • Prioritizing communication.

Communication is at the heart of marketing. Communicate with customers and let them know what is happening businesswise. At the same time, maintain communication with your clients too. Listening to their pain points at this time can give you insights into new strategies that you can use to boost their businesses.

  • Getting creative.

Most of us are stuck indoors. That means that your customers are now spending more time online and most are in the research stage of the purchasing funnel. This is the best time for you to optimize your social media pages and website to boost your brand’s presence.

The world is going through a trying time but we can choose to make the most of it. Get in touch with me today and let’s discuss how you can keep marketing your business through this health crisis.
