How to Build High-quality Links to Your Website

by | Jul 14, 2020 | Blog

Although high-quality guest blogging remains highly effective, most bloggers don’t know how to go about it.

The 3 main challenges they face include:

  • How to find blogs to guest post for
  • How to write more high-quality guest articles
  • Getting backlinks

Finding Guest Blogging Opportunities

If you follow the same process as everyone else, most blogs you want to write for will ignore your pitches because they receive too many similar ones. You have to think outside the box and one tool that can help is Content Explorer. This is a mini search engine for web content that runs on a vast database. Using Content Explorer you can enter the word or phrase you’re interested in and filter the results. You can end up with a list of individual blogs in a certain niche then select the ones you are most comfortable pitching to.

Writing more High-quality Guest Articles

Once you’ve landed some sites that you’re interested in guest blogging for, the next challenge becomes coming up with good article ideas regularly. There are 3 ways you can use to deal with this:

  1. Borrowing proven content ideas. You can always check out popular blogs and see which topics you can borrow from them. Once you get inspiration, build on those articles then offer the final pieces to other blogs as guest posts.
  2. Breaking up articles into subtopics then repurposing them. Sometimes you can end up with a well-detailed, well-researched lengthy article. Breaking up such an article into subtopics then using those subtopics as the basis for new articles can save you from coming up with new article ideas all the time.
  3. Covering articles from different perspectives. Alternatively, you can take one article as the basis of several others by simply writing it from a different point of view. This way you can come up with different versions of a single article, each with a fresh perspective.

Getting Backlinks

After writing up articles and pitching them, you’re likely to run into several other hurdles like being turned down, lengthy negotiations, etc.

To get around this, focus on coming up with quality articles and make a habit of pitching several different blogs at once. This way if one turns you down, you still have a chance of being accepted by another one. Also, keep pitching new blogs and try writing for blogs that have never linked to you before. Such links have more weight than getting second links from the same websites all the time.
