In these difficult times, both local businesses and local digital marketers can find ways of collaborating so that we all come out strong when this is all over.

If you are a business owner, here are some tips that’ll help you keep going during this world health crisis.

  • Stick to all public regulations.

One of the most important things to do right now is to adhere to the laws and regulations that have been put in place to mitigate COVID-19 in your city or state. Also, ensure that you consume news from trusted sources to stay informed as the crisis progresses. If you’re unclear about a certain guideline, reach out to the relevant local authority for clarification.

  • Make communication a priority.

As a digital marketing consultant, I can’t emphasize how important communication between businesses and their customers. Staying in touch with my various clients during this crisis has helped me identify their concerns, allowing me to re-strategize some of my strategies to benefit them.

Businesses can’t afford to go quiet at such a crucial time as this. Find ways to stay in touch with your customers either through social media platforms or email. Additionally, you can use your Google My Business profile and your website to convey important information e.g. change of operating hours, delivery schedules, etc. to your clients and customers.

  • Operate as fully as possible.

Just because most of the world is on lockdown doesn’t mean you can’t keep operating. If your business is deemed essential, find ways to adapt to the current situation and keep going. For instance, if you are a restaurant, look into deliveries or drive-throughs.

If you haven’t already done so, take advantage of the incredible opportunities afforded by e-commerce. Right now a lot of people are indoors which means they have more time to research and find your products and services. Be ready to serve them when they do.

You can also look into ways to connect and conduct business visually with your target customers. This depends on your area of business e.g. if you run a gym, you could hold online fitness classes. Other business owners can hold meetings or appointments virtually or connect with customers on social media.

Now that you have much more time on your hands, this is the perfect time to increase your business knowledge. There are plenty of courses being offered online for free or at reduced prices that can help you learn how to boost your business. Put your downtime to good use by enrolling for some of these.

The current health crisis has forced us to consider different ways of doing business. Schedule a consultation with me today and let’s discuss ways you can keep your business going in these trying times.
